Our expert team will be able to provide multidisciplinary expertise in the management of AYA patients so that we achieve the best outcomes for them and provide support to navigate their cancer journey and continue on with their life with minimal disruption.

Dr Antoinette Anazodo
MBBS, MRCPCH, MSC, Dip Adolescent Cancer, FRACP
Lead Clinician

Dr Antoinette Anazodo trained in Paediatric and Adolescent Oncology in the United Kingdom and completed her training with a clinical fellowship at the Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick (SCH). During her training and fellowship, Antoinette completed a postgraduate diploma in Adolescent Oncology and has developed a comprehensive understanding of the issues specific to Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) patients including best practice for individual cancer types.

Fiona Maguire
Clinical Nurse Consultant

Fiona has been working as the Adolescent and Young Adult Clinical Nurse Consultant (AYA CNC) since the service began in April 2008. Prior to this, Fiona gained clinical experience in paediatric haematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant at Sydney Children’s Hospital over the last 20 years as well as gaining experience in the psychosocial needs of adolescents and young people with cancer.

Cath O’Dwyer
RN, Grad Dip, MSc Oncology Nursing
Clinical Nurse Consultant

Cath has worked as an oncology nurse for the last twenty years, working in many nursing roles gaining knowledge and experience in this very rewarding profession. To complement and strengthen her learning she has undertaken several educational programmes including a Master degree in Cancer Care.

Michael Hopkins
AYA Social worker

Michael joined the Sydney Youth Cancer Serviceteam at its inception in 2009 as the AYA Social Worker. Michael completed his Social Work degree at UNSW in 2004 and has since completed a Master in Social Work Counselling in 2009 and a Graduate Certificate in Supervision in 2011. Michael is also involved with CanTeen, Redkite and the NeluneFoundation and has strong links to the local community.

Ursula Sansom-Daly
AYA Psychologist

Ursula Sansom-Daly completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Clinical Psychology degrees at the University of New South Wales. Ursula has completed her PhD thesis, which looks at ways to better understand, and address, positive adjustment to cancer (and ‘life after cancer’) in young people and has worked with young people and families living with cancer for five years.
